It’s been almost 7 years since we seen a new Black Series model from Mercedes-AMG. Needless to say, it was expected that the Black Series would make an appearance within the AMG GT line-up from Mercedes. We’ve seen almost 6 variants of the GT and surprisingly, the Black Series has not yet made the list.
The current variants of the GT (some including roadsters) includes the AMG GT, GT S,GT C, GT R, GT R Pro, as well as the GT 4 door Coupe.
We’ve previously seen some Black Series magic on the SLK55 AMG, CLK63 AMG, SL65 AMG, C63 AMG and the SLS AMG. Thus, making the AMG GT Black Series, the 6th Black Series variant to be joining the legendary ranks of the Black Series range.
Considering how previous Black Series models held the highest rank according to its own variants, we can expect the GT Black Series to be one brutal machine which will out do its brothers, the AMG GT R and GT R Pro which are already the more hardcore and track-focused versions of the GT.
Pictured below, the AMG GT Black Series seems to have acquired a much more aggressive front end with a much larger front grille and some new aero designs. The bonnet also received a nice big cooling vent. The rear has also got a much more aggressive look to it as well with a new rear diffuser and a “pretty big” wing.
According to Motor1, the GT Black Series should have the following specs; “The latest report suggests the model will arrive with a revised twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 that produces 711 horsepower (530 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque. That’d make the Black Series 134 hp (100 kW) and 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) more powerful than the AMG GT R. Power will allegedly route through a dual-clutch automatic gearbox to the rear wheels.”
The GT Black Series test car was spotted on Nürburgring Nordschleife doing some test laps and was uploaded to Stateside Supercars Youtube Channel.
