If you’re looking to catch a glimpse of some automotive talent, there’s nothing better than dropping into a motor show to hit the spot. Every year thousands of automotive enthusiasts attend motor shows around the world to get a sneak peak at the latest models hitting the market and admire the genius that goes into our modern vehicles. Below we look at some of the biggest shows coming up in 2018.

SA Festival of Motoring

One of the most impressive events is the SA Festival of Motoring, which will be rounding off the year from 31st August to the 2nd September. This event will be hosted at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit and will play host to a range of new automotive technologies, including navigation and tracking systems.
Last year, nearly 70 exhibitors strutted their stuff in the show rooms with over 50,000 visitors treating themselves to an automotive extravaganza. If you choose to pick yourself up a ticket, you’ll be able to see a variety of OEM village and NAAMSA displays as well as an extensive range of exotic cars and supercars to take a look at.

Jaguar Simola Hill Climb Knysna

The Jaguar Simola Hillclimb 2018 in Knysna South Africa will be the ninth showing of this renowned event. The Hill Climb is scheduled between the 3rd and 6th of May and will be following last year’s successful outing which drew in over 15,000 people. The event will be kicking off with a classic car parade through town.

 The Paris Motor Show

If you fancy something a bit more European, the Paris Motor Show will be making a comeback this year after taking a hiatus in 2017. The last time the show took place in Paris back in 2016, more than 1 million visitors set about to catch an eyeful of the automotive industries best talent. Two years ago, there were 245 brands displayed, so we can expect that this year the organizers will be looking to top their record and add some new killer models.

Geneva Motor Show

If you’re looking for a full-scale motor show, there’s none better than the Geneva motor show. As one of the largest automotive shows in Europe, Geneva has more than enough content for fanatic and casual petrolheads alike. Last year there was over 200 featured brands, and 130 new car premieres. We’re yet to find out what’s on the cards for this years show, but we can expect to see tons of new models and a chance to see THE car of 2018.

Nairobi Kenya – Autoexpo Africa 2018

For the past 20 years, Autoexpo Africa has been one of the largest automobile exhibitions in the world. This year’s show will be the 21st anniversary of the show, with displays covering everything from automobiles to truck parts. Autoexpo will be a good spot for checking out the influence of motorsports on the development of new car technologies as well. Nairobi is definitely a must watch for 2018!

2018: A Big Year For Motoring

There is plenty of automotive events worth taking a trip to. What makes 2018 so exciting is the emergence of smart cars and autonomous technology that we’re going to be seeing in the years to come. Of course we’ll be seeing the best of 2018, but we’ll also be seeing the best of what’s to come in 2019 as well.
